What: Mission Base Staff & Communications Academy
When: 27-29 JAN 2017
Where: Volk Field ANGB, Camp Douglas, WI (15 miles southeast of Tomah)
Cost: $50. Includes course materials, Friday and Saturday night lodging, and meals: breakfast (Sat & Sun), lunch (Sat & Sun), and dinner (Sat only).
This is an Air Force Assigned Training Mission, so reimbursement of travel costs are available for Wisconsin Wing members
All participants MUST have a current General ES rating or higher. Students must have completed all prerequisites (including commander approval) for the rating they are training in. Members who need to renew ES or Communications ratings may attend as well. Only one training track may be selected. Because of the “hands-on” nature of the training, participation is limited and on a “first come, first serve” basis. Deadline to register is Sunday, 22 JAN 2017.
Senior Members: The Safety Reeducation Program must be completed in order to attend (if applicable).

This training track covers Mission Radio Operator, Communications Unit Leader, Mission Staff Assistant and WIWG Mobile Command Center Operator or Driver. Even if you have no communications experience at all, you will have the opportunity to walk away from the weekend as a Mission Radio Operator ready to operate in a communications center on any size mission and as a Mission Staff Assistant ready to assist in the Incident Command Post.
Training will cover use of various HF & VHF radios, MCC and special equipment, WMIR, and communications forms in a mission environment. Communications personnel renewing ratings will be used as “mentors” for other trainees during the practical exercises. Academy staff will evaluate performance and sign-off training tasks. Training will be limited to 20 participants.
This track is the ideal “starting point” for any member looking to become involved in Emergency Services missions. Introductory Communications User Training (ICUT) practical testing will be available on Friday evening. NOTE:Online ICUT training must be completed prior to arrival.

Mission Staff Track
POC: Lt Col Jerry Krueger
This track covers 11 mission staff ratings from “entry” to “command” levels. The position specific training will prepare members to work at an Incident Command Post and manage an ES mission. Training will emphasize more “hands on” skill practice and less classroom instruction, as well as use of WMIRS, ICS forms, and the WIWG ES Took Kit in a mission environment.
ES personnel renewing ratings will be used as “mentors” for other trainees during the practical exercises. Academy staff will evaluate performance and sign-off training tasks. Training will be limited to 3-5 participants per staff position. Participants are encouraged to bring a wi-fi capable laptop or tablet.

Aerial Photographer Track
POC: Maj Tim Dixon
All aircrew with a Mission Scanner or higher rating may attend this training. Saturday classroom covers use of digital cameras, planning and executing photo sorties, and processing/delivery of product. Weather permitting, practice sorties will be flown on Sunday and trainees will upload their photos to a simulated customer. Course limit is 20 students.
Mission Pilots are strongly encourage to take the training so they can better interact with APs when flying photo sorties.
This training is open to cadets and senior members alike as well as personnel from other wings. Cost for this training is $50 per person. Members apply and pay online.
CADETS under the age of 18 applying for the Academy MUST also complete a CAPF 32, including parent’s signature and hand-carry their CAPF 32 with them to the Academy. Cadets without this form will not be allowed to participate.

Squadron Staff is responsible for providing/arranging for chaperones for your cadets. Please ensure your cadets have the CAPF 32 and know to bring it to the event.
This is an Air Force Assigned training mission. Reimbursement for fuel & oil is available for Wisconsin Wing members ONLY, provided they register vehicles and/or corporate aircraft. POV use must be authorized on a WIWG Form 7 w/ supporting documentation in order to receive reimbursement. See WIWG supplement to CAPR 77-1 on the WIWG website for further details.
Photo sorties for AP trainees will be flown on Sunday out of Volk Field (VOK) or Mauston-New Lisbon Union Airport (82C). This is an excellent opportunity to get some flight time on your aircraft. Units should coordinate with Major Tim Dixon, (414) 587-9629, email@example.com
