Cadet Captain Annika Walukas receives Earhart Award
Eau Claire, Wi. – Cadet Captain Annika Walukas earned her Amelia Earhart Award on September 14, 2017. Walukas is currently assigned as the Cadet Commander and the Wisconsin Cadet Advisory Council Representative for the Eau Claire Composite Squadron. Walukas has participated in Emergency Services training at the Eau Claire Composite Squadron and Wisconsin Wing level. The Emergency Services training she has completed certifies her as a Ground Team 2 member which allows her to participate in State and Region-wide (Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Wisconsin) search and rescue exercises. She is currently working on her Ground Team 1 member certification which would allow her to participate in Emergency Services missions nationally.
Walukas attended 2 National Cadet Special Activities this past summer. In June of 2017 Walukas went to the Air Force Space Command Familiarization Course at Patrick AF Base in Florida. Walukas also attended North Central Region National Powered Flight Academy in Fremont, Nebraska where she earned her solo wings. Additionally, she attended Advanced Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama where she received the “Right Stuff” award. She was the Deputy Commander at the Wisconsin Wing Aerospace Education weekend in Oshkosh, Wisconsin during the fall of 2017. Walukas is working toward earning her private pilot certificate and is currently enrolled in flight school at Hawthorne Aviation in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Walukas is a High School Junior in the Cameron Academy of Virtual Education and is also dual-enrolled in Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Her dream is to become an Astronaut.
