November Commanders Corner
With the change of season comes beautiful fall colors and certainly a change in weather! I would ask everyone to start preparing for the change in season. Safety is our number one goal and your safety – both in CAP and in your personal/family life – is my number one concern. Please take the extra time to preflight your vehicles and take a close look at the weather before a family trip or an actual mission. Remember, as seniors, it is our responsibility to look after our cadets, so let’s be good wingmen and make sure all our members are prepared to perform safely! But there has been more change lately than just those beautiful leaves.
As you all are aware, we now have a new National Commander and will soon have a new region commander. I am excited and proud to begin this next chapter in our CAP leadership. We can look forward to new ideas and certainly some new wording in our regulations. CAPR 70-1 will soon be replacing CAPR 60-1. Please take the time to read this new regulation cover to cover (a great opportunity to settle down with a cup of coffee in front of your fireplace). While not all change is welcome, we must embrace our leadership, new regulations, and continue to uphold the high standards of professionalism that makes us such a strong force.
Finally, November is a time of thanksgiving. I want to personally thank each and every member – both senior and cadet – in WI wing for your dedication and service. I am proud to stand next to each and every one of you as your commander, knowing that WI wing is the wing of excellence – a title we could not sustain without your daily contributions and service. I also want to thank all of your families who support you, we could certainly not perform our mission without their love and support!
So, spend time with family and friends, give thanks for the many blessings we all have. Enjoy the change in seasons, embrace the change in leadership, and above all – keep safety at the forefront of every activity (and have fun!!).
