Wisconsin Wing aircrews assisting with Hurricane Harvey efforts
Madison, WI – An aircrew from the Wisconsin Wing of the Civil Air Patrol headed for Texas on Friday, September 1st, to support Civil Air Patrol’s efforts in responding to the flooding and devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey. The aircrew consisted of two members from the 153rd Composite Squadron, based in Madison, and an aerial photographer from the Brown County Senior Squadron located in Green Bay. The aircrew will conduct aerial photography missions for the State of Texas and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Teams from five other Civil Air Patrol wings have been conducting aerial photography missions daily since Hurricane Harvey devastated the area in and around Houston. So far these missions have generated more than 8,600 photos. FEMA uses these photos to assess damage and determine where to assign resources. Wisconsin Wing stands ready to deploy additional crews if required.
