Milwaukee Squadron 5 visits state’s largest airport
Milwaukee – Milwaukee Composite Squadron 5 recently toured the Gen. Billy Mitchell International Airport’s Field Flight Operations Center, Transportation Security Administration checkpoint and Air Traffic Control tower.
At the terminal, Marketing & Communications Director Pat Rowe told members that on average, the airport services 135 commercial flights each day. Cadets and seniors witnessed the communications hub that is the Airport Operations Center and Transportation Security Administration agents demonstrated body and luggage scanners.
At the control tower, CAP Captain Dirk Wilhelm, a former FAA Air Traffic Controller, briefed members on the tower operations and served as one of three tour guides.
