Wing Staff attend Communications Unit Leader course

Last week Lieutenant Colonel William Carlson and Lieutenant Colonel Larry Ochowski participated in a Communications Unit Leader sponsored by the Wisconsin Department of Emergency Management at the Fitchburg Fire Department.   The Communications Unit Leader course focuses on helping unit leaders determine communications needs, procurement procedures, dispersal and integrating the Incident Command System into communications work. The three day course consisted of a combination of instructor led classes and tabletop type exercises.  The course also included familiarization with communications equipment and demonstrations.

On the last day the City of Beloit response vehicle was made available for a detailed explanation and inspection by class participants. Vehicles similar to the Beloit response vehicle help manage radio communications and establish radio networks during disaster situations.
