Fwd: Announcing the “Curry Blues Voucher”

Please see the message below from NHQ. This is a major change to the Free Cadet Uniform program, effective 01 MAY. A few important notes to consider regarding this new program:
Promotion for the first achievements does require a complete uniform, but does not require that uniform to be a blues uniform. A complete Battle Dress Uniform is acceptable for the first promotion. This voucher is for $100. The old system provided a shirt, pants, belt with buckle, and a flight cap. At current Vanguard prices, those four items will cost a new cadet $135.05. If you make sure to give your new cadets the 10% off code, the total drops to $121.55. This is still above the $100 voucher amount. Therefore you should make sure parents are aware that when they order items, the cost may exceed the voucher. If units are able to supplement the purchase with existing inventory to help the $100 cover the cost, that would be a recommended practice. While the above fact may seem discouraging, the benefit is that uniforms will arrive faster. Under the old system it could be up to six months before a cadet saw their uniform arrive. Now, the uniform should arrive in 7-10 days after orderingIf you have questions regarding the new program please let me know. Please note that the wings did not have a role in crafting this new program, but if you have ideas for improving or changing the process we are happy to receive them.

Announcing the “Curry Blues Voucher”

Beginning 1 June 2015, parents and/or squadrons will provide BDUs to new cadets

when they join, and CAP will provide a $100 voucher towards purchasing the blues

uniform when they earn the Curry. The “Curry Blues Voucher” will be more reliable,

faster, and more convenient than the “old” program.

The “old” AAFES program closes on 1 May, and the “new” Curry Blues Voucher begins 1 June.  Learn More!
