New Cyber Defense Training Academy announced! Deadline 01 JULY!
Texas Wing has announced a new National Cadet Special Activity – the Cyber Defense Training Academy! Activity will be held 10-16 AUGUST at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.
What is it? Just like the Space Command and Undergraduate Pilot Training Familiarization Courses; the Cyberspace Familiarization Course is an introduction into cyberspace operations conducted by the United States Air Force. Cadets will receive an introduction into Defensive Cyberspace Operations which includes: introduction into networks and operating systems, workstation and server fundamentals, and how to secure a system and mitigate threats. The course will conclude with a capstone activity where cadets will be ordered to secure a network of workstations from possible security breaches. The goal is to not only prepare cadets to effectively participate in competitions like CyberPatriot and the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition but to usher in a new era of “Cyber Operators”.
Please note: This activity is open to all cadets who have earned their first promotion. No encampment is required. Applications are due 01 JULY 2014!
The activity is held at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland. Cadets are response for transportation to and from San Antonio. Cost is currently $200, however program staff are working to reduce this cost significantly.
