Beloit, Wis. – During opening ceremonies held recently, Cadet Cody Alexander of the Civil Air Patrol’s Rock County Flight, received his Amelia Earhart Award and was promoted to the grade of Cadet Captain.   Janesville Police Department Chief, David Moore presented the award along with Major David G. Deiler, Rock County Flight squadron commander and Group Commander, Major Angela Thomas.

The Amelia Earhart Award is the third milestone of the Cadet Program and represents the completion of the Command Phase.  The award is named in honor of Amelia Earhart, the woman who set many records for females in aviation and was lost while attempting to circumnavigate the globe.  Cadets who achieve this award are viewed as favorable candidates by all U.S. military service academies, especially the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Cadet Alexander has been a member of CAP since February, 2006.  He presently attends University Wisconsin – Whitewater where he is studying Sociology and Criminal Justice and currently serves CAP as the Rock County Flight Cadet Commander.
