Wisconsin Wing members converge on La Crosse
La Crosse, Wis. – This weekend, La Crosse will play host to more than 200 Civil Air Patrol members from around Wisconsin as they attend the annual Wisconsin Wing Conference. Civil Air Patrol volunteers from all parts of the organization will be in attendance including pilots, cadets, support personnel, and local and state leaders. The Best Western Riverfront Hotel will be the site of the conference.
During the conference members will receive awards recognizing superior performance during 2012. Ruth Wiseman, President and CEO of the Chileda Institute, will be a guest speaker as will Captain Matthew Wright, Commander of the Headquarters Company for Fort McCoy.
Conference attendees will also have the chance to learn about emerging topics such as integrating STEM-based education into Civil Air Patrol training, new developments in aviation safety, and how to promote public awareness and safety through social media.
Members will also take time out on early Saturday morning to provide an honor guard for the Freedom Honor Flight that is departing from the La Crosse Airport. The coincidence of the events allows the members of Wisconsin Wing to show their appreciation and support for the veterans that will participate in the flight.
