Wisconsin’s Secretary Huebsch to present awards to high-achieving cadets
La Crosse, Wis. – On Saturday, February 23, Secretary Mike Huebsch will present two prestigious Civil Air Patrol cadet program awards at the La Crosse CAP Facility located at 2906 Fanta Reed Road, La Crosse. The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude around 9:30 a.m.
Secretary Huebsch will be presenting the General Ira C. Eaker Award to Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Michael Ebert and will present the Amelia Earhart Award to Cadet Captain John Brennan. Secretary Huebsch will share some thoughts on volunteerism after the award presentation.
The Ira C. Eaker Award is the fourth of five CAP Cadet Program awards and marks the formal end of the cadet program. Less than two percent of all CAP cadets earn the Eaker Award. Ebert’s accomplishment marks the first time a La Crosse cadet has earned the Eaker Award in more than six years. Ebert hopes to attend the United States Air Force Academy in the fall.
The Amelia Earhart Award is the third cadet milestone award, and only 15% of CAP cadets reach this level nationally. Brennan currently serves as the squadron’s cadet commander, and plans to attend Texas A&M University in the fall on an Air Force ROTC scholarship.
