Westby Middle School teacher and CAP Aerospace Education Member, wins Teacher of the Year Award

La Crosse, Wis. – MaryBeth Marx, a Civil Air Patrol aerospace education member and middle school science teacher for the Westby School District, was awarded the local Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Teacher of the Year award. She also won at the region level and finished third in the state.

Marx, who is also an EAA member, has been interested in aviation since a child. She has been very active with the La Crosse Composite Squadron as she steered them to the Viroqua Fly-In.  The local CAP unit held a mini-field day at her school last year and is planning on a bigger event this year to include an F-16 simulator.

Her love of aviation and enthusiasm in sharing that knowledge with her students, she is also responsible for some of her students joining CAP; giving them a greater opportunity to learn about aviation as well as leadership skills.

Congratulations MaryBeth Marx!
