CAP Helps American Red Cross during Holiday Blood Drive

Greendale, Wis.–Milwaukee Composite Squadron #5 assisted the American Red Cross during its “Day of Donations Blood Drive” at Southridge Mall.  Civil Air Patrol’s cadets and senior members volunteered to help in registration, patient placement, information and recruiting. Over 80 pints of blood were realized, including that from two senior officers.

The Red Cross’ Meredith Londo said, “…your cadets played a major role in the success of this event…you stepped up and provided more help than I could have anticipated.  I truly hope you realize how much CAP was appreciated yesterday. I had nothing but positive feedback from staff and donors.”

The last two weeks of the year are difficult for blood donations because people are busy and as well as on vacation.  Donations are typically down while usage goes up.  The blood collected at the Blood Drive will help over 250 hospital patients.

Senior Member Michelle Michalski, was able to speak about giving blood to a local TV station.
