Milwaukee Composite Squadron #5 witnesses change of command

Oak Creek, Wis. – Lieutenant Colonel Danielle Michaels took command of Civil Air Patrol’s Milwaukee Composite Squadron #5 on July 19th from Major Glen Hutchison, who had served as the unit’s commander since November 2009.

Michaels, a 34-year veteran of CAP, previously served as Wing Director of Professional Development, Wing Assistant Director of Cadet Programs and Squadron Deputy Commander for Seniors.  She has completed CAP’s Region Staff College, Ground Team Academy and Unit Commander’s Course.  Outside of CAP, she is a secondary school teacher in the Waukesha School District.

Southeast Group commander, Lieutenant Colonel Julie Sorenson performed the change of command ceremony before parents and guests, including past Milwaukee Composite Squadron 5 commander and former Wisconsin Wing commander, Colonel Larry Stys; current Wing commander Colonel Clarence Peters and Wing vice-commander, Major Rose Hunt.

Light refreshments followed the ceremony.
