Wisconsin Wing Gains a Lieutenant Colonel in Southeast Group

Lt. Col. Julie Sorenson, commander of Southeast Group, slips on the new epaulettes on Lisa Amburgey, promoting her to the grade of Lt. Col.

Waukesha, Wis. – Tuesday, June 12 was a special day for Major Lisa Amburgey, a Civil Air Patrol (CAP) member of the Southeast Group.  Amburgey was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel at the group’s monthly meeting by Lieutenant Colonel Julie Sorenson, Southeast Group commander.

Amburgey, who currently holds the position of emergency service and testing officer, joined CAP in 2000 and has worked hard to obtain the grade of Lieutenant Colonel, which takes a minimum of ten years to obtain.  She has also served as the Wisconsin wing assistant director of emergency services as well as held other various positions at the unit and group level.

Unselfish service to country and others is what she is about.  She was most recently honored in September 2011 with the Civil Air Patrol’s Life Saving Award when she sprang into action to help a choking victim; saving her life by performing CPR after she collapsed.

Her hard work and dedication to the organization has earned her this promotion.  Congratulations Lt. Col. Amburgey for a job well done.
