Eau Claire Hosts Change of Command Ceremony for Northwest Group
Eau Claire, Wis. – Civil Air Patrol’s Eau Claire Composite Squadron hosted the change of command ceremony for the Northwest Group on November 10, 2011. Wisconsin’s vice-commander, Major Rose Hunt conducted the ceremony with twenty-five members witnessing the event.
Major James Delaney accepted command of the group from Lieutenant Colonel Sumner Scott, whose four-year term had come to an end.
He brings with him a vast array of experience in CAP to lead the group. In the 19 years of service to CAP, Delaney has been a squadron commander as well as a communications officer, information technologies officer and inspector general for Northwest Group as well as the director of personnel and professional development officer for Wisconsin wing; just to name a few of his accomplishments.
Delaney accepted the position with hopes to make sure that everyone has fun while volunteering in CAP and that they also enjoy the organization.
Lt. Col. Scott had served as the commander of the group since November 2007. In the past 20 years of his involvement in CAP he was also an incident commander, mission pilot and squadron commander. He was involved with air and ground teams in emergency services. Scott ended his term by saying, “It was a great ride.”
Following the ceremony, refreshments were served and everyone had a chance to thank the former commander for a job well done and to congratulate the incoming commander.
